Materials Testing
Industrial NDT and Materials Testing Services
PRO-Welding provides comprehensive organization, coordination and supervision of non-destructive testing (NDT) and materials testing services performed by certified inspection bodies and qualified personnel.
The scope of testing and documentation is defined in accordance with project specifications, technical documentation, Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and applicable regulatory or acceptance requirements for the specific installation or facility.
Services are executed in compliance with relevant European and international standards, including EN and ISO standards applicable to welding inspection and materials testing.
We support clients in:
technical condition assessment of industrial structures,
quality control of welded joints,
inspection of pressure equipment and process piping,
verification of metallic materials and components,
testing during fabrication, installation and operational phases.
Inspections are performed by certified Level 2 and Level 3 personnel in accordance with EN ISO 9712, depending on the method and project requirements.
Services are coordinated across Poland and Europe. Other locations and 24/7 execution are available subject to project scope and logistical arrangements.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Services
Within industrial projects, PRO-Welding provides coordination and supervision of testing performed using the following non-destructive testing methods:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Penetrant Testing (PT)
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Visual Testing (VT)
Eddy Current Testing (ET)
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTT)
Hardness Testing
The selection of the testing method depends on material type, joint configuration, applicable design codes and project-specific inspection requirements.
Non-destructive testing (NDT) enables the detection of surface, subsurface and internal discontinuities in structural components, welded joints, pressure equipment and process piping.
These inspection activities form an integral part of quality control during fabrication, installation and maintenance phases of industrial installations.
Destructive Materials and Weld Testing Services
We provide coordination and supervision of destructive testing activities covering:
Tensile Testing
Bend Testing
Impact Testing (Charpy V-Notch)
Macroscopic Examination (Macro Test)
Destructive tests are performed in accordance with applicable project specifications, welding procedures, and relevant EN / ISO standards.
Components and Materials Covered
Testing activities are performed during both the fabrication and operational phases for the following components and semi-finished products:
welded joints
forgings
castings
plates and sheet materials
pipes and process piping components
bars and solid sections
The scope of testing is defined by project specifications, technical documentation and applicable design codes.
Inspection may cover components used in:
structural steel constructions,
pressure equipment and process installations,
industrial piping systems,
serving the power generation, chemical and process industries.
Organization and Coordination of Testing in Industrial Projects
As part of ongoing industrial projects, PRO-Welding provides:
definition of inspection scope in accordance with technical documentation and project specifications,
coordination of testing schedules with welding and installation activities,
supervision of non-destructive testing (NDT) and materials testing,
compilation and verification of as-built quality documentation.
This approach ensures a consistent and structured quality control process covering structural steel components, pressure equipment and industrial piping systems.

Description of NDT Methods
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is based on the transmission of high-frequency sound waves into the tested material using a piezoelectric transducer. Reflections from internal discontinuities are received and evaluated to determine their location and characteristics.
This method enables the detection of planar and volumetric internal imperfections and is widely applied for the inspection of welded joints, forgings and castings, particularly in pressure equipment and structural components.
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Radiographic Testing (RT) is one of the fundamental non-destructive testing methods used for the inspection of internal structures. The method utilizes X-ray or gamma radiation passing through the tested object to produce an image of its internal condition.
RT allows the detection of internal discontinuities such as lack of fusion, porosity, inclusions and cracks in welded joints and industrial components. It is commonly required for critical welds in pressure vessels, boilers and high-pressure piping systems.
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) is used to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials.
Prior to inspection, the surface must be properly cleaned to ensure reliable test sensitivity. Magnetization is typically performed using a yoke-type electromagnet or other suitable equipment depending on the geometry of the component.
Penetrant Testing (PT)
This method is used to detect material discontinuities that extend to the surface of a welded joint. It is primarily applied to non-ferromagnetic materials, as well as to castings and forgings that meet technological requirements.
Visual Testing (VT)
Visual testing enables the detection of dimensional non-conformities and defects arising during the fabrication and operation of an object, such as cracks, corrosion or leakage.
Eddy Current Testing (ET)
Eddy current testing utilizes the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction generated as a result of changes in the magnetic field. It is applied to electrically conductive materials, both ferromagnetic and non-magnetic.
Hardness Testing
Hardness testing determines the material’s resistance to plastic deformation under the action of concentrated force. It is used in process control, heat treatment and in the assessment of material strength.
Due to the minimal deformation of the material, hardness testing is classified as a non-destructive testing method.
